Finding every single spot to play ping pong in Atlanta
Hey Atlanta! My name is mcclark71 and I am a pongaholic. It's my almost daily ritual. Newest Update 1/12/2020
Thanks to Charlie from Decatur Table Tennis for finding a new location, Atlanta Table Tennis Center, located in Lawrenceville.
Newest Updates 9/12/19
Thank you to the kind soul who found both MK Table Tennis and Paragon Golf Center, 2 new locations in the North Atlanta metro with ping pong tables!
Big thanks to Moses (Tennis Coach @ Dekalb Tennis Center) for clueing me in on a table they have available to use during business hours. Both maps and the site have been updated to reflect this new found table.
If you are a Ping Pong player looking to meet new people & track your stats, go check out tbltns.app - some of my Atlanta Pong buddies are working on this really neat social app for pongers. It is available in beta through Testflight on the app store and will soon be launching for Android.
Big props to lowtek for letting me know there was not way to report a found table, this has been fixed and for all the tables I missed or that pop up, they can be reported here:

First off, this sub is amazing so I've tried to do my research. My girlfriend and I am heading to a wedding April 6th in Ponce and want to make a trip out of it. We are adventurous, love to hike, eat, and even dance. This is what we have planned:
Friday: Land, pick up the rental car, and head to Ponce (with a quick stop at Curva del Arbol Renace). Get settled in the hotel, grab a bite to eat, and then take the groom out drinking
Saturday: Push through the hang-over and wake up early. Drive to Cerro El Rodadero for a quick hike and pictures. Be back in Ponce by 1pm to get ready for the wedding at 5pm. Excessive drinking and dancing at the reception.
Sunday Morning: Push through yet another hang-over and say goodbye to Ponce. Get an early start to the day and head over to Cueva Ventana. Is a tour mandatory or can we go about it on our own? If the tour is not mandatory, can we just rent gear from them?
Sunday Afternoon/Night: After getting dirty in the cave, we plan to stay in Arecibo for the night. Recommendations on places to stay/eat/dance? Any must-sees/dos there?
Monday Morning: This one we are split on. I want to check out San Cristobal Canyon (pricey all-day tour) and they want to check out El Yunque (the only rain forest in the national forest system). I’m on board with Yunque unless someone gives a riveting tale of Cristobal. Also, I hear Yunque is still mostly closed.
Monday Afternoon/Night: Get settled in San Juan (It is so big, where should we stay? I keep hearing Condado/OSJ/MiramaCarolina) . Food recommendation? Where can we go salsa dancing? Must sees/dos?
Tuesday:BIO BAY! This is the first thing I said was a non-negotiable and also the one I am most confused about. What time do we need to get to the ferry? Is it better to take a plane for the extra cost? I hear some ferries won’t let you take a car. How do I get around the island? What do we do from early morning until late night once our tour begins? I can only assume we need to stay the night in Vieques. Where should we stay? Or are we better off trying to do Bio Bay without staying the night?
Wednesday: Get back to the big island and explore SJ/OSJ. Must see/dos? We plan to return the car by this day (if not Monday night) so plan to Uber around.
Thursday: More exploring and then flying home around 5pm.
How does our itinerary look? Should we try to squeeze in Gozalandia somewhere in there? Should we try to squeeze anything else in? Is the Barcardi tour worth it? How is this manatee thing? Is the parasailing the best in the world? What about the Botanical Garden? (the one in Rio De Janiero changed my life Because I'm an addict, how is the craps? I hear there are plenty of cliffs/waterfalls/town just off the road that are worth a 5 minute pit stop. Where are they? Thanks in advance and I hope this will help as a guide for others in the future.

Harry and his wife Mollie ran a liquor store and had been preparing to close their shop for the night when an assailant(s) robbed the store and then shot the couple dead. Police later informed the victims’ family that serial killers Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole confessed to the murders. Spend some of your happiest days here on United States’ very own Latin American island in the Caribbean Sea. Puerto Rico is not only stunning all around, there are so many things to do and the food simply can not be beat. We always reminisce about our Puerto Rican food encounters because it truly is indescribable. You shouldn’t sleep on the mofongos (mashed plantain dish) here… my mouth is watering as I am typing this. Check out what we think is a time well spent in Puerto Rico below and plan your trip itinerary planner. Old San Juan https://preview.redd.it/wj8xs6hgz0421.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=2c9ead9880545bcf2772e8316ed6cff8efcf323e Old San Juan is by far the most important part of the city because it is the oldest settlement of the island being established in 1521 and is located on the Isleta de San Juan. Come and admire the colorful buildings that have been beautifully restored to keep their charm and the original cobblestone streets. Enjoy a typical Puerto Rican meal at any of the delicious restaurants or open air cafes. San Juan National Historic Site & Castillo San Felipe del Morro https://preview.redd.it/84i57q9tz0421.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c03dc75c94a9dbcf6268cc47d6457914dad318a For the sole fact that this Citadel and National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, you should pay a visit here and learn how the Spanish built this MASSIVE fort in the 16th century and how they defended themselves against their enemies for hundreds of years to come. Castillo San Cristobal https://preview.redd.it/ubyhnr2201421.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23ad62ab481ee801187a36c96ed920779c21bc88 This fort is located close by the San Juan Historic Site and is considered to be part of the Site’s package. The purpose of this fort was to prevent land attacks from intruders and for this reason, 27 acres that wrapped around San Juan have been preoccupied since 1783. Castillo San Cristobal is known for being the largest fort built by the Spanish in the New World so stop by to complete the defense trifecta that has helped Puerto Rico stay safe. Paseo Tablado La Guancha On the other side of the island in the city of Ponce, is where you can find the Paseo Tablado La Guancha, which is a boardwalk overlooking the Club Nautico de Ponce. This boardwalk is known for its many restaurants serving local foods and it’s beautiful night strolls that can lead right onto the beach. Come and enjoy the delicious foods and second most visited city of Ponce next time you visit Puerto Rico. Museo de Las Américas On of the most historical buildings in San Juan now houses the Museo de Las Américas. Prior to being converted into a museum in 1992 the building had many uses. Built in the 1800’s by the Spanish army, the buildings original purpose was to house soldiers and their families. But, not only did it serve as a residence, but also storage, jail cells, stables, once bombed and even turned into a hospital. Now after all that history it have fittingly been converted into a museum showcasing the developmental influences of the Americas. Puerta de San Juan Puerta De San Juan is a large gate what was used as the main entry into the city during the colonial era that dates back to the mid 1600’s. This isn’t just some gate that you’ll take a picture of and forget. It’s a 20+ foot passageway that used to be only one of five ways to enter the walled off city. But before getting there and snapping photos and selfies immediately, take time to immerse yourself in the moment. Take yourself back into to what it must’ve been like to enter or exit the gate. From the city outward you’ll be greeted with a breathtaking view of the bay and notice the significance of the large red gate. From the bay inward it’s a welcoming to a vibrant city ready to welcome you with open arms. This truly is one of the hidden gems of Puerto Rico which had an extremely deep impact for us! Casa Bacardi https://preview.redd.it/exhmldd901421.jpg?width=825&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d55e779ba1448f0417cfb99e2a9293c5e2a2d812 Everywhere in the world is known for having a go to alcohol, whether its having a nice bordeaux in Bordeaux, France or a Sweetwater 420 in Atlanta, Georgia, Puerto Rico is the land of Bacardi! Although it wasn’t founded or headquartered in Puerto Rico, the largest rum distillery in the world is here and that calls for a visit! Take a tour, have a taste, and grab a bottle to bring home! If in San Juan you have the choice to drive around Bahia de San Juan or you can take a ferry across the bay to get there. El Yunque National Forest On the east side of the island the El Yunque National Forest is waiting to be explored by the inner adventurer in you! This tropical rainforest offers breathtaking sights with plenty of waterfalls, rivers, trails and treetop walkways to venture off into. Around 30 miles (45km) outside of San Juan makes it easily accessible for a day trip out of the city. Our recommendation, rent a car for the day, explore the National Forest and then continue to go around the surrounding towns or to the east coast of the island. Isla Verde Isla Verde is located on the Northern Coast of the island just outside of San Juan. Know for its luxurious hotels that line it’s beautiful beach front make it the perfect place to stay outside of the city. Being right next to the airport, 15 minutes from San Juan, and only 3o minutes from El Yunque National Forest makes it the perfect place to be to enjoy all that Puerto Rico has to offer! On the beach there are plenty of water sport rentals for a reasonable price and if you like to test your luck the El San Juan Hotel and Casino isn’t far. If you’re looking for a more natural beach area and want to get away from all the beachfront high rises, head down to Piñoneswhere you can be surrounded by plenty of mangroves and vegetation. And finally while in Puerto Rico there will never be a shortage of delicious, to die for food. Just keep and ear out for where the locals love to dine, that’s always a good bet! 10 rounds featherweight division Montiel, 35, is past the point of beating elite opponents. I can’t see him capturing gold, but if you’re just a step below contender, there’s a good shot Montiel is gonna beat you. Cruz was last seen getting knocked out by Miguel Berchelt (a rising prospect who you will read about next) and has also fallen victim to Javier Fortuna, Juan Carlos Burgos, and Orlando Salido in recent years. If I’m Montiel, I keep taking these fights. He can still fight, these opponents are beatable, and he’s getting paid.
Miguel Berchelt 21(18)-0 vs Luis Eduardo Flores 15(13)-1
10 rounds super featherweight division Berchelt is a rising prospect. This kid hasn’t taken the easy way. Flores is 15 and 1 and can punch, but Berchelt has faced experienced competition and guys who can test a prospect and has met the challenge each time. Flores is a Colombian whose making his first venture outside his home country. I don’t think the opposition he has faced will have significantly prepared him for one of the better prospects in boxing. From Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, UK
Tony Bellew 20(12)-2-1 vs Valery Brudov 41(28)-4
12 rounds vacant WBO international cruiserweight title Tony Bellew, who didn’t look like a particularly big or built light heavyweight, says goodbye to one of the most top heavy divisions in boxing and ventures 25 pounds north to the cruiserweight division. Bellew was battered in his last fight with light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and it will be interesting to see if there are an residual effects from that bout. Brudov has come up short in all of his fights against upper level opponent. History tells us that Bellew should have this in the bag, but it’s tough for me to get over his last fight.
Kell Brook 31(21)-0 vs Alvaro Robles 17(15)-2
10 rounds welterweight division (I'm going to be very critical of Brook, but I do want you to know that I'm a very big believer in him. Of any domestic UK fighter, which he still is, I think he's got the skills to make it on the world level tomorrow. I can't say that about a ton of domestic guys.) It’s getting to the point now where it’s acceptable to say that Brook may be one of the most protected fighters out there. He’s had 31 fights, he's shown to have world level talent (against mostly domestic opponents), and yet his greatest win has been… Vyacheslav Senchenko? The same guy that got stopped by Paulie Malignaggi AND STEVE SMOGER WAS THE REFEREE!!!!!!!! STEVE SMOGER!!! THE SAME GUY THAT LET GLEN TAPIA FIGHT TO WITHIN AN INCH OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS!!!! HE THOUGHT PAULIE WAS UNLEASHING TOO MUCH DAMAGE ON SENCHENKO!!! STEVE SMOGER SAID PAULIE STOP BABY THIS IS TOO MUCH VIOLENCE FOR SMOKIN SMOGER. THOSE HANDS ARE FUCKIN SOMETHIN PAULIE. I believe Brook has what it takes, but he needs to make that leap. He may not win every world level fight because he's not Floyd Mayweather, but his chances against Khan are good. His chances against Alexander and Peterson and Porter are solid. But right now we're at the final straw. Brook is 27 and Alvaro Robles should be target practice for him. Kell, don’t wait too long to show us what you’re made of.
Rocky Fielding 17(10)-0 vs Charles Adamu 21(15)-5
12 rounds super middleweight division Fielding could get a shot at the Froch or Groves winner if he plays his cards right. I didn’t think he would beat Blackledge like he did, but he stunned everyone by stopping him in the first round. Seven of his last 8 opponents have stopped. Fielding is building a case for himself as one of the UK’s top super middleweight prospects… that is until Callum Smith fights again. Then we’ll all remember. From Sands Casino Resort, Bethleham, Pennsylvania
Tomasz Adamek 49(29)-2 vs Vyacheslav Glazkov 16(11)-0-1
12 rounds heavyweight division The winner here will likely find themselves opposite Wladimir Klitschko later in the year. Glazkov is coming off a dominant performance against a very game opponent and Adamek is recovering from an injury. This is a great fight. If 37 year old Adamek can put on a performance consistent with what he’s done for the last couple of years, he will upset the Ukrainian prospect.
Ronald Cruz 20(15)-2 vs Kermit Cintron 34(28)-5-2
10 rounds welterweight division
Isaac Chilemba 21(9)-2-2 vs Denis Grachev 13(8)-2-1
10 rounds light heavyweight division
Karl Dargan 14(7)-0 vs Chazz McDowell 6(1)-4-1
8 rounds lightweight division I think Dargan is a good fighter, but for some reason his journey has been a slow one. I think he’s at the point where he should be facing guys who’ve got at least 20 fights under their belt, but hey, maybe there’s something I don’t know. From Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico
Danny Garcia 27(16)-0 vs Mauricio Herrera 20(7)-3
12 rounds WBA Super world light welterweight title WBC light welterweight title Let’s ignore the Showtime-led campaign to christen Danny Garcia as the Puerto Rican boxer. It’s still Miguel Cotto and Verdejo is going to inherit it when Cotto is done. And if you think about it, Danny Garcia doesn’t need it. Right now it's obvious to anybody who can look at the big picture that Showtime is getting their wheels rolling with a mega fight between Garcia and Mayweather. That’s why Garcia is facing a very beatable opponent in Herrera. And to be frank. Garcia doesn’t need to face a guy like Herrera. I don’t fault him for it, he’s earned a somewhat easy fight, but to me, Garcia doesn’t need to face a guy who’s lost to Karim Mayfield and Mike Alvarado. Herrera hasn’t fought a 12 rounder since 2011 and is coming off an 8 round unanimous decision victory against Miguel Angel Huerta (his first fight after a 5 year layoff and was subsequently knocked out in his very next fight.) Anyway, I’m done criticizing. Garcia has proven to be a terrific fighter. If there was a pound-for-pound list of guys whose skills take a back seat to their sheer determination to win, Garcia would be on that list. Garcia doesn’t get an A on anything other than timing, and it’s difficult to pin him with a style. But the one thing he does well is win by any means necessary. I don’t mind that he’s being groomed for the Mayweather fight. If anyone with Golden Boy is going to really challenge Floyd, it will be Garcia.
Deontay Wilder 30(30)-0 vs Malik Scott 36(13)-1-1
12 rounds heavyweight division When people saw this fight get made, I’m sure everyone thought ‘great fight!’ or ‘finally we’ll see Wilder get tested and exposed!’ or whatever your version of that. The one thing that is consistent is that Wilder is stepping up and people are happy that he will get tested. I think it’s possible that he gets tested, but I’m leaning more towards this: Malik Scott is more of the same and was a perfectly chosen opponent. Scott’s rise is very similar to Wilder’s. He’s faced a ton of guys with experience, but never was he in any threat of losing these fights. When he stepped up, he got a draw against Glazkov (fair score) and Derek Chissora stopped him. Granted that was controversial, but it appeared Chisora would eventually get to him. Scott doesn’t pack much of a punch (34 KO%). So while Scott is a level above Wilder’s normal opposition, I still think Wilder’s power will equalize any advantage Scott’s experience provides... but there have been rumblings and whispers that Wilder has been hurt and dropped in sparring and that he’s hiding glass. That alone will make this an interesting fight.
Juan Manuel Lopez 33(30)-3 vs Daniel Ponce De Leon 45(35)-5
10 rounds featherweight division The last time we saw Juanma, he had this look on his face like he was trapped in his own body that would no longer obey. In his prime, Juanma was brilliant and explosive. The potential fight between Gamboa and Juanma was perhaps the second most talked about fight behind Mayweather and Pacquiao. That Juanma is gone and while Ponce de Leon isn’t who he once was, I believe there’s still enough there to take care of Juanma. 6 years ago Juanma stopped Ponce de Leon in 2 and a half minutes. I don’t see that happening again.
Danny Jacobs 26(23)-1 vs Milton Nunez 26(24)-9-1
10 rounds middleweight division The great thing about Jacobs (other than beating cancer) is that he’s 27. At just 23, he was one of the best middleweight contenders out there and since returning, he’s been on the warpath to reestablish his position in the division. I hope for the best and always root for Jacobs to succeed, so that one day we get a match between him and Quillin for Golden Boy’s version of the middleweight title.
Monday March 17
From House of Blues, Boston, Massachusetts
Julian Williams 14(8)-0-1 vs Freddy Hernandez 30(20)-6
10 rounds light middleweight division I really like Williams, and I think he’s yet another good prospect Golden Boy has stockpiled in the light middleweight division. Here is my defense of this card which you may think is crazy given the headline fight features a guy who’s lost five of his last six fights. The saving grace in this fight is that Hernandez comes to fight and will do a good job testing Williams. If Williams doesn’t have world level power, he will not knock Hernandez out. If he can’t box, he will not win. Hernandez does everything well enough to test prospects. He’s got wins over Luis Collazo, Jesus Soto Karass, and DeMarcus Corley. I don’t think Williams will have trouble, and I’d be really impressed if he could stop Hernandez.
Jamie Kavanagh 15(7)-1-1 vs Andres Navarro 9(6)-4-1
8 rounds lightweight division I could’ve sworn Kavanagh was promoted by Golden Boy… anyway, they’ve stacked this card with some Irish-American talent to move some tickets. Kavanagh can do it in spades, even though he’s coming off his first career loss. He went down to Mexico and was knocked out in 6. Kavanagh is still young. He’s 23 and there’s a ton of time for him to continue developing.
[FIGHT THREAD]ESPN Friday Night Fights: Javier Fortuna vs Luis Franco, Kermit Cintron vs Carlos Rodriguez
Date: 2 August 2013 Location: Buffalo Run Casino, Miami, Oklahoma, USA Television: ESPN2, ESPN3, Watch ESPN Time: 9:00 PM EST Javier Fortuna 22(16)-0 vs Luis Franco 11(7)-1 Pre-fight rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ 10 Rounds in the featherweight division Javier Fortuna is, in my opinion, one of the top upcoming prospects in boxing and maybe my favorite prospect in all of boxing. He’s coming into this bout trained by Pablo Sarmiento (trainer of Sergio Martinez) and coming off a 1st round KO in his previous fight. Fortuna is in a very special group, and that is he was discovered by Sampson Lewkowicz. Lewkowicz is also responsible for the discovery of a young Manny Pacquiao and Sergio Martinez. And coincidentally… we have yet another powerful southpaw on our hands. Luis Franco is a tough Cuban featherweight with a huge amateur pedigree. In his last fight he lost a split decision to Mauricio Javier Munoz (scores ranged from 118-110 to 113-115) and he briefly retired. He’s now back after turning down a fight with Billy Dib (which would have been a career high payday) to fight the heavy handed Fortuna. If he can box and make Fortuna miss with his big power shots, he’s got a legit shot at an upset. The featherweight division is very competitive. Abner Mares and Mikey Garcia sit atop while Chris John, Orlando Salido, Evgeny Gradovich, Daniel Ponce de Leon, and Billy Dib look on. Nonito Donaire may soon be making his way up and Takashi Uchiyama is looking down at them from one division up. My prediction: Fortuna KO5 Kermit Cintron 33(28)-5-2 vs Jonathan Batista 14(7)-1 Pre-fight rating: ★ ★ ★ 10 rounds in the welterweight division Kermit Cintron was an upcoming prospect whose train never quite left the station. Cintron, 33, won the vacant IBF Welterweight title in 2006 against Mark Suarez. Cintron won and held onto the title until Antonio Margarito got ahold of him. Again. Cintron’s first loss came in 2005 against Antonio Margarito and after 2 years holding the IBF belt, Margarito got another crack at Cintron and the result was the same. A battered Cintron was stopped. To Cintron’s credit, the following year was a big one for him. He had a technical draw against Sergio Martinez, the current reigning middleweight king (and his last fight at 154), and a win over a young Alfredo Angulo. Cintron’s career took a nose dive from there after fights with Paul Williams, Carlos Molina, and Canelo Alvarez. After a draw with Adrian Granados, Cintron is back on Friday Night Fights to take on Dominican Jonathan Batista. This fight is occurring for 2 reasons. 1. Javier Fortuna is also Dominican. And 2. There may be something left with Cintron if not for his name. Batista’s record is nice at 14-1, but he’s got no notable victories. His first big step up was against a 14-0 Emmanuel Lartey and Batista fell by UD. He came back 2 months later against Carlos “The Killer” Rodriguez and stopped him in a little over 2 and a half minutes. The Killer boasts an 0-6 record. One of the best things about Friday Night Fights is the amount of upsets we see. Could this be one of those fights? It’s a question of whether Cintron has anything left and does Batista have anything, period. My prediction: Cintron KO 8
[WEEKEND RECAP] Danny Garcia vs Mauricio Herrera, Tomasz Adamek vs Vyacheslav Glazkov, Tony Bellew vs Velery Brudov + more
Friday March 14
From Kissimmee Civic Center, Kissimmee, Florida
Jonathan Oquendo won a unanimous decision over Guillermo Avila
Saturday March 15
From Palenque de la Feria Mesoamericana, Tapachula, Chiapas, Mexico
Fernando Montiel won a majority decision over Cristobal Cruz
From Echo Arena, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom
Tony Bellew won by KO in the 12th round against Velery Brudov
A bit of a bizarre finish here. Bellew looked good in his cruiserweight debut… but I wouldn’t read too much into it. The finish came when Bellew landed a beautiful counter left hook. Brudov fell backwards over his planted left foot. The foot rolled and broke. Brudov made an attempt to get up, but when he put pressure on the left foot he fell back to the canvas. I’d like to see Bellew fight Ofalbi now.
Rocky Fielding won a unanimous decision over Charles Adamu
Kell Brook stopped Hector Alvaro Robles in the 8th round
The special one looked about as good as you can when you don't move your head against a game opponent. He landed a ton of shots and eventually made his man's corner throw in the towel and took his shots very well. From Sands Casino Resort, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Vyacheslav Glazkov won a unanimous decision over Tomasz Adamek
Adamek had a low start and paid for it. Glazkov did just enough to hang on in the final rounds to earn a shot somewhere down the line against Wladimir Klitschko.
Isaac Chilemba won a unanimous decision over Denis Grachev
Grachev came forward every round and fought his heart out, but Chilemba was far more effective at counter punching and winning every exchange they had.
Kermit Cintron won a unanimous decision over Ronald Cruz
Karl Dargan won a unanimous decision over Chazz McDowell
Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico
Danny Garcia retains the lineal light welterweight title by majority decision over Mauricio Herrera
I didn’t get to watch this or any fight live. I was away for the weekend, so when I started getting texts Saturday night (which I promptly ignored) my stomach dropped. Danny Garcia is one of my favorite fighters and I’ve bought so much stock in the “Puerto Rican star” that anything less than a stellar performance is going to leave me with some explaining to do. Or maybe it was Wilder getting KO’d in the first round. All I knew is that when I watched this, something spectacular was going to happen. Here goes: At the end of the first round, I realized that Garcia’s camp may have either watched the wrong videos or completely didn’t watch any videos of Herrera. Their gameplan was not going to work. Herrera is not the guy you wanna sit back and play counter-puncher with. He’s awkward, has no rhythm, and he’s very sneaky with everything. Then I noticed he started to do things that Matthysse had some success with, but he was actually capitalizing on it. The jab to the body at the end of the first round left Danny’s abdomen pink. Bad sign. At the end of the second round I was happy I had decided not to score the fight and just enjoy it. Herrera did an excellent job throughout the fight of taking away what Danny loves. Danny loves to counter-punch in the pocket. Herrera would only enter the pocket when he was getting inside and it would soon end up in a clinch. It was one of those fighters where Herrera was the one who clearly won rounds, like the way Marquez did in his 3rd fight with Pacquiao, and the rest of the rounds depended on how you scored. There were probably 4 rounds where Danny completely lost and if you didn’t give them to Herrera, your paycheck is signed by a guy with the last name of Suliaman or Schaefer. At the end of the fight, Garcia pulled off a majority decision, but we all know who won the fight. I’m not selling my Garcia stock yet. It seems like a lot of fighters struggle when they have a fight in their home country (lol) after a long period of time somewhere else. This is simply a fight where the old saying “styles make fights” rings loud and true. I think Garcia is in a tough position. He’s certainly now ruled himself out of a fight with Mayweather in September. His next fight at 140 should be very interesting.
Deontay Wilder knocked out Malik Scott in the 1st round
I was starting to take notes watching this fight. I was writing that I didn’t like the way Scott was fighting. His idea to now throw punches and feel out Wilder was ill attempted. Especially his footwork. I saw him move his lead foot back, almost on the same line has his rear foot, therefore squaring him up completely before he would change direction. A pretty bad idea when you face a—and he’s down. Wilder landed a straight right that put Scott down and out. When reviewing the replay, I saw that the argument for this fight being fixed was valid and I’m not writing anything else on this one.
Juan Manuel Lopez stopped Daniel Ponce de Leon in the 2nd round
There were 2 fights happening depending on how you watched it. One with Showtime commentary, and one with the mute button on. The Showtime announcer saw this as an unexpected Juan Manuel Lopez victory after Ponce de Leon tagged him numerous time. With the mute on, it was very clear Lopez was landing nearly every big counter he threw from the opening bell. Ponce knocked Juanma down early in the second, but when Juanma got up and started to get on defense I saw that he knew Ponce was reaching for everything. He began to find the right distance and just like that found the perfect counter right to drop his man. The stoppage came a bit premature, and especially considering the 2 fighters are vulnerable defensively and a bit chinny, it would have been nice to see if there were more surprises in store.

TIL Puerto Rico ("rich port") was the capitol of the island of San Juan until a mapmaker accidentally switched the names in 1521, and the mistake was never corrected.
This is an automatic summary, original reduced by 89%.
San Juan is considered to have two primary tourist areas, both east of Old San Juan along the Atlantic coast: the Condado district, about a 10-minute drive east of Old San Juan, and Isla Verde, 15 minutes farther east. A ride from the airport to the Isla Verde hotel district costs $ 8; to the Condado, $ 12; to the Radisson, Caribe Hilton Hotels and to Old San Juan, $ 16. The off-the-beach Excelsior Hotel, 801 Ponce de Leon, San Juan, P.R. 00907, 721-7400 or 223-9815, fax 723-0068, in the Miramar area, is across the Condado Lagoon from the primary hotel area. With its lush gardens, crescent beach and well-appointed rooms, the Caribe Hilton International and Casino Hotel, Post Office Box 1872, San Juan, P.R. 00907, 721-0303, fax 725-8849, remains among the finest of the San Juan hotels. For the past 30 years, El Patio de Sam, 723-1149, on the Plaza San Jose in Old San Juan, has been a favorite of San Juan's literati and artists. A front-page picture caption on Feb. 12 for the What's Doing column, about San Juan, P.R., referred erroneously to a sculpture.

Jorge Arce 51(46)-7-2 vs Giovanni Caro 24(18)-14-4 Unknown amount of rounds in the super bantamweight division Arce has always been known as an action fighter, and at 34 has gotta be fighting for the love of it. I can’t imagine any other reason.
From Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico
Daniel Ponce De Leon 44(35)-5 vs Joksan Hernandez 23(15)-5-1 10 rounds in the featherweight division Ponce De Leon was last seen on the canvas at the hands of Abner Mares who then went on to get knocked out in the 1st round to Jhonny Gonzalez who Ponce De Leon dropped and beat in a technical decision before he lost to Mares… What?

Jose Felix Jr 25(20)-0-1 vs Santos Benavides 21(17)-4-2 10 rounds in the super featherweight division Felix Jr can make the next step toward entering the world stage of the stacked super featherweight division. This should be a good war. Chris Avalos 22(16)-2 vs Rolly Lunas 34(20)-8-1 10 rounds in the super bantamweight division Avalos had a good fight earlier this year on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. Avalos could position himself for a fight with Rigondeaux next year with an impressive win. Jose Benavidez 17(13)-0 vs Abraham Alvarez Osuna 16(7)-4-1 6 rounds in the welterweight division Benavides, once a hot prospect, is looking to get himself back on track in a 6 rounder against a decent opponent.

Andre Ward 26(14)-0 vs Edwin Rodriguez 24(16)-0 12 rounds for the lineal super middleweight title In-depth preview and viewing guide can be found here Brandon Gonzalez 17(10)-0-1 vs Johnathan Nelson 18(8)-0 10 rounds in the super middleweight division Brandon Gonzalez, stablemate of Andre Ward, is looking to impress yet again on HBO. After fighting Thomas Oosthuizen to a draw, Gonzalez is back and looking to take out another undefeated fighter. Gonzalez is very talented with stamina being his only issue. The only question this time is whether or not Virgil Hunter will whisper. John Molina 26(21)-3 vs TBD 10 rounds in the lightweight division Molina is fresh off a dramatic, round of the year, upset of the year, etc. type win over TMT connected Mickey Bey. In the other corner will be perennial punching bag TBD. Does Molina have another ace up his sleeve or will TBD make him all but invisible Saturday night?

Tomasz Adamek 49(29)-2 vs Vyacheslav Glazkov 15(11)-0-1 12 rounds in the heavyweight division Adamek may have been stopped by Vitali Klitschko back in 2011, but apart from that and a loss to Chad Dawson back in 2007, Adamek has beaten everyone put in front of him. That includes Johnathon Banks, Steve Cunningham, Chris Arreola, and Eddie Chambers. Adamek now faces Vyacheslav Glazkov who’s only blemish is a split draw with Malik Scott. This should be a terrific fight that could earn Adamek a shot at the heavyweight title in 2014. Michael Brooks 10(2)-0-1 vs Karl Dargan 13(7)-0 8 rounds in the lightweight division Isaac Chilemba 20(9)-2-2 vs Michael Gbenga 16(16)-9 8 rounds in the light heavyweight division
